About this blog
A quick background on myself and why I believe that I have something to contribute with in this blog:
I am the CTO & Co-founder of Azuralis AS.
We have defined Azuralis to be a Voice Application Foundry. In practice this means that we:
- Develops market leading telecommunication software and services for telecom companies, service providers, organizations and companies.
- Focus on adding value on top of subscriptions and traffic.
- Our specialty is integrating value adding services on communication infrastructures, in particular Internet based telephony and related services.
- We provide seamless integration, based on open standards and defined APIs.
However, this blog is NOT a corporate blog, nor is the views presented in this blog the view of my company.
I am genuine interested in communication technology - someone would call me a communication {nerd, geek}. However, I do believe that the only way of doing a excellent job, is by being broad in your knowledge and interests. Very few things today are isolated in a vacuum. This is double so with modern communication technology. I refuse to isolate myself - and I therefore stick my nose into anything that I deem necessary ;-)
Before starting Azuralis in February 2008 I worked 2 years for a Norwegian ITSP named Voop. By doing that I finally got a chance to work with something that I have had a interest in for nearly two decades: How to enable communication between people using technology. Prior to doing the Right Thing workwise, I have done all sorts of stuff giving me a very broad background both regarding IT- and communication knowledge, but also picked up domain knowledge along the way.
For many years prior to working with SIP and related technologies I have always had a very big interest in video and voice over IP-based networks. At one point in time I even deployed Microsoft Netmeeting at a few customers sites. This is when I learned not to like H.323 ;-)
I do hold a MSc degree in IT from the University of Liverpool. It may not matter to you - but I am really proud of this degree. Doing a MSc degree with a acceptable outcome as a grown-up with family responsibilities and managing a hectic work life is extremely tough. My dissertation was of course VoIP related.
You can also follow med on Twitter - but do not expect any high quality content.
From time to time I even contribute to the VOIPSA blog.
Disclaimer on reviews and previews
I am not paid to do any reviews. The stuff I review is either bought by myself, my company, given to me or on loan. If I want to review a product I will ask if that is possible - unsolicited questions for reviews are not the way to go unless your product is extremely interesting for me.
If I have nothing good to say about a product I will not review it - on the other hand, I am never hiding anything either - the truth will hurt. (Un)fortunately I like communication related technologies and services, so my reviews tends to be on the (very) positive sides.
The same goes for companies - when I am raving about a company it is because the level of service is beyond most others.
